Guardiola puts major dent in Arsenal and Spurs plans as Man City close in on target

The Transfer Tavern are well aware that Pep Guardiola’s arrival in the Premier League this summer is likely to send shockwaves around English football.

However, perhaps our punters didn’t expect it to be so soon!

According to the Daily Mail, the incoming Manchester City boss has won the race to add the highly coveted Mikel Arteta to his coaching staff at the Etihad this summer.

With the Spanish midfielder set to retire from his playing days with Arsenal, he is understood to have offers from both the Gunners and Tottenham Hotspur to work as a coach.

Arsene Wenger has seen a number of key players leave to begin coaching careers elsewhere over the years, while Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino shares a good relationship with the Spanish midfielder form their time at PSG together.

However, it is believed the 34-year old has opted to join Guardiola’s revolution at City in the coming months ahead of the chance to remain in North London.

Will bringing in Arteta as a coach prove to be a masterstroke from Guardiola?
