Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s return a welcome sight following poor Iwobi performance

Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s return a welcome sight following poor Iwobi performance

Arsenal were easily dispatched by City at the Etihad the other day in what to be another disappointing showing against a Manchester side.

City found themselves one goal up after just 48 seconds after  Sergio Aguero found himself on the end of a perfectly weighted ball into the box.

Despite the fairly quick response from Laurent Koscielny, whose goal scoring efforts have been commendable recently, he could do little to stop the blue tide, with Aguero scoring a further to goals to complete another Premier League hat-trick.

There were some fairly decent performances from the visitors including the likes of ever improving Guendouzi, Kolasniac, and Lacazette – who’s certainly made a name for himself as a big game player. However, where fans may have left proud of these players for their efforts, others will certainly be livid with the likes of Alex Iwobi who had a game to forget.

The Nigerian forward was responsible for City’s first goal after being dispossessed needlessly by Aymeric Laporte, and things didn’t improve until he was eventually hauled off in the 66th minute.

The stats certainly don’t lie either. In total, he attempted just 18 passes, won a mere 27.3 of his duels, and failed to register a single shot on target.

But do not fear Arsenal fans, things are looking to improve…

A recent post from the Gunners will surely have some excited, with the prospect of seeing their experienced playmaker back on the pitch after a stint on the sidelines.

While the Armenian is yet to hit top form since his move from Manchester United little over a year ago now, he’s another body in the club’s quest to finish in the top four. Having struggled in recent games, Unai Emery could certainly do with the attacking reinforcement in order to unleash his strike force.
