Ideal Xmas XI: Arsenal

Ideal Xmas XI: Arsenal

Arsenal won’t accept anything less than a top-four spot in the current campaign, but they will need to seek improvements in order for this to happen.

The Gunners find themselves in the knockout stages of the Europa League, but they haven’t enjoyed as much success domestically as they’re currently trailing in the race for a top-four spot.

However, with the January transfer window and Christmas period upon us, Unai Emery should start turning his attention towards bringing in a couple of world-class performers that can help take them to the next level.

A number of players may head for the exits next month and first-team players could join the lengthy injury list, but in a world where the Gunners didn’t have to worry, here’s a look at what Arsenal’s ideal Xmas XI would look like…

ARSENAL’S IDEAL XMAS XI

Bernd Leno has been one of the unsung heroes for Arsenal in the current campaign as he continues to put in match-winning performances in-between the sticks.

Sead Kolasinac has really started to come into his own at the Emirates in recent times, while Hector Bellerin has been able to ensure consistency for large parts. Also, Rob Holding is currently suffering from an injury but he would slot right into the heart of the defence if he was fit, to play alongside the impressive Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Lucas Torreira has proved to be one of the signings of the summer for the Gunners, having contributed in the final third and made it impossible for the opposition to threaten. But, bringing Denis Suarez to the club would take them up another level, as he has the skill and passing ability to cause havoc in the final third and set up teammates.

Arsenal’s attacking three would consist of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Cristian Pavon. The latter is one of the hottest topics in South America, so he could easily provide valuable contributions in attacking areas, while Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan have been a huge goal threat in recent times.

Alexandre Lacazette has had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench at times but he has still been able to produce an impressive amount of goals, so he will play a huge part from here on in.
