It has been a tough start in the Premier League for Arsenal this season, facing Manchester City and Chelsea in their opening two fixtures.
Aaron Ramsey is a player who has a poor track record when it comes to injuries. Ramsey saw his first taste of action in the 2018/19 season, coming on a substitute for Mesut Ozil in the second half in Arsenal’s 3-2 loss at Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old Ramsey has just 12 months remaining on his contract, but he seems no closer to signing a new deal to keep him at the Emirates.
With that in mind, here are two replacements Arsenal should seek if they do lose the Welshman….
Considering the level of talent in the Liverpool midfield, the Anfield outfit may be open to offers for Wijnaldum.
The Dutchman is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt. He could be the perfect candidate for a creative midfielder to replace the talents of Aaron Ramsey. Considering Liverpool have a midfield containing the likes of Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Wijnaldum might start to see his opportunities limited.
The midfielder has a great pedigree, and could become a real force in the Arsenal midfield if given the opportunity. He is certainly a target Arsenal should consider.
Another Dutchman, Strootman could offer some defensive solidity, whereas Ramsey was a more attacking player. Strootman could contribute to making Arsenal a team which is tougher to break down than they are currently.
He also has a great range of passing range, who could contribute in a creative sense to the Arsenal side. His effort and commitment to his team is something that can never be questioned, which might be a breath of fresh air for the Emirates outfit.
The 28-year-old is valued at £25.2m by Transfermarkt, and has a contract which runs until 2022, he would not be a cheap option, but he would be an effective option to replace Ramsey.
