Arsenal’s season has been well under par and the Gunners are under intense pressure this summer to significantly bolster their ranks, with the punters in the Transfer Tavern demanding wholesale changes.
The future of manager Arsene Wenger still remains under scrutiny and the Gunners also risk losing core members of their squad, as the futures of the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere enter their final 12 months.
Whilst Arsenal will be desperate to keep hold of all of the aforementioned players, sales will need to be considered and if they receive a monstrous bid for Alexis Sanchez, who’s rated at £55.25m by TransferMarkt, the Gunners should consider it.
The Chilean sensation has been Arsenal’s stand-out man this season, scoring 19 Premier League goals and securing ten assists in 33 appearance, but he is guilty of poor performances – especially recently and, for some reason, he often avoids criticism.
Whilst he’s been exceptional this season, Alexis is far from irreplaceable and those that watch him on a weekly basis would struggle to argue that he’s genuinely worth the audacious amount that he’d cost this summer.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, our landlord has correctly pointed out that losing Alexis would send the wrong sort of message this summer.
However, he does admit that the Chilean needs to be more consistent and has areas he has to improve.
