Now Unai Emery is in charge, its time for players who weren’t giving their all under Arsene Wenger to step up to the plate and perform.
There is real quality in the Arsenal side, but as a team their performances were often disappointing last season. The Gunners finished the season in 6th place, far below where Arsenal fans want to see their club.
It was reported the players held an emergency meeting without Arsene Wenger last season. This led to more speculation of a risk between Wenger and the players, with many believing the players were no longer listening to the French boss.
Hopefully with a new boss, this is all behind the Arsenal squad, Emery has made new additions and the squad can move on and get back to winning ways. Emery has particularly looked to tighten up the Arsenal defence, bringing in the experience of Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Stephan Lichsteiner.
Top earner Mesut Ozil, who is on £350,000p/w, needs to live up to his price tag. Arsenal deserve to see consistent form from their star man.
The German is a true creative force for the Gunners. If he turns up on a weekly basis, Arsenal would look likely candidates to return to a top four spot. If the midfielder is on top of his game, it becomes very difficult for opposition teams to gain a foothold in the game.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette up top, Ozil will have strikers with a great knowledge of when and how to make runs for his balls over the top of the defence. Under Emery, the £40.5m rated by Transfermarkt star needs to step up to the plate.
