Arsenal fans here in the Tavern have suffered a setback after a run of impressive games was halted by a prolific Manchester United side. Of course, Arsene Wenger has always loved to acquire fellow Frenchmen at the club, with Alexandre Lacazette becoming the latest signing in a jam-packed Arsenal attack, forcing the future of Theo Walcott to come into question.
Indeed, since making the move from Southampton as a 16-year-old, he’s managed to pledge the vast majority of his footballing career to the services of Arsenal. Still, over the past couple of seasons, he’s started to fall out of favour with the flurry of attacking signings and youth developments pushing him towards the exit.
Now having struggled to mount any sort of place in the side, he’s accumulated 10 appearances with only 3 of them coming in the Premier League, so having had such little impact on the position of the club right, surely he’s surplus to requirements?
Well, that’s exactly what Everton are hoping, as reports in the Daily Mail suggest that new Toffees boss Sam Allardyce is enquiring about the possibility of bringing him to Goodison Park, after taking a liking to what the forward could bring to their rather out-dated attack.
With Arsene Wenger being hesitant to spend unless the money is in front of him in recent times, perhaps potential funds in this deal could pose an added incentive on looking to bolster the Gunners’ ranks even further, after the success of their summer signings so far.
So, Arsenal fans, is it time for Walcott to bow out at the Emirates?
