Arsenal enter the international break after back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time under Unai Emery.
International football takes centre stage this weekend with 12 Arsenal players being selected to represent their countries. Aaron Ramsey starred for Wales during their 4-1 battering of the Republic of Ireland while Henrikh Mkhitaryan missed a penalty for Armenia during their 2-1 win over Liechtenstein.
Emery faces a trip to St. James Park to face struggling Newcastle following the international fixtures. The Magpies have picked up just one point from their opening four games so the Spaniard will be confident of extending their current win streak heading into the opening Europa League fixture against Vorskla. While the January transfer window may be a while away, the former PSG boss should be keeping an eye out for potential New Year additions.
One man he should be watching is Lille winger – Jonathan Bamba. Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, the Frenchman could be one of the best signings of the summer, joining from St-Etienne on a free transfer last summer after hitting eight goals and registering eight assists in his debut season. His excellent showings continued into the new campaign with Bamba finding the back of the net three times in his opening four appearances in Ligue 1 for his new side.
The Gunners have been crying out for a natural left winger, and Bamba fits the bill perfectly. Although primarily used on the left, he is also comfortable on the right flank making him a useful option for Emery to have at his disposal. Still just 22-years-old, Bamba will only get better and working with world-class forwards like Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette will only boost his development.
Lille will want a large fee for their prized asset, but Arsenal should pay the price if his form continues.
