The Portuguese manager has been hired on a long-term contract which ends at the end of the 2022/2023 season and comes after he was linked with the manager’s job at the Emirates Stadium.

According to The Times, Mourinho had dinner with Raul Sanllehi about taking over from Unai Emery, whose position as manager is under threat according to the Sun.

The Spaniard has overseen a horrible start to the season for the Gunners, with the club winning just four of their opening 12 Premier League games, leaving them eight points off top four.

Mourinho’s last job was at Manchester United, where the 56-year-old was sacked following just over two years in charge.

However, it seems that Mourinho will not be sat in the home dugout at the Emirates Stadium as fans took to Twitter to react with joy to his appointment at Spurs.

Here is a selection of tweets from the Gooners:

Arsenal fans, are you happy Mourinho won’t be coming to the club? Let us know your feelings!
