It certainly doesn’t take one of the many bar stool experts in the Transfer Tavern to tell you that Arsenal are desperately crying out for both a central defender and a centre-forward this summer.
Also, it won’t take a transfer window guru to inform you that the Gunners have previously struggled to get deals for either over the line.
So, imagine the smug looks on the faces (of everyone other than the Emirates locals) in tonight when reports from Gianluca Di Marzio claimed they had been knocked back in their attempts to land Juventus ace Daniele Rugani.
The elegant central defender has long been linked with a move to North London, though Premier League rivals Everton are understood to be interested in the 21-year old.
Despite the Old Lady’s famous backline consisting of Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli, the dominant Serie A titans are believed to have warded off any potential interest in the Azzurri sensation.
Bonucci himself has been strongly linked with a move to these isles, with both Chelsea and Manchester City thought to be keen.
Can Rugani develop into as good a player as the 3 Juventus rocks?
