Landing £18m-rated Italian would give Arsenal’s new manager the winger he really needs

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are admittedly still feeling a bit emotional with Arsene Wenger’s reign in north London quickly coming to an end after 22 years.

Although this season has been a poor one, fans have seen the big picture and accept what a magnificent job the Frenchman has done for the club. Arsene Wenger will not be forgotten in a hurry and Arsenal fans may even find that his successor isn’t up to the high standards left behind by Wenger.

Whoever may take over next season needs to be backed with huge money if the Gunners are seriously targeting a return to the top four at least. Our punters, as well as other positions, have identified a need for a top winger at the club, someone who could be Roma’s Stephan El Shaarawy, who is valued at £18.00 million on Transfermarkt.

The Italian has enjoyed a successful season with the Champions League semi-finalists, managing to score 9 goals and creating 8 assists for his team-mates. At 25, El Shaarawy has moved from club to club but he seems to have settled in Rome, playing the best football of his career some believe.

In that case, Arsenal should cause tension with a bid, knowing that if they’re successful, they would have a top winger on their hands.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Arsenal desperately need to recruit new players this summer and although improving their defence would be priority, a top winger would also be very desirable for the dejected Arsenal fans. Stephan El Shaarawy has proven on the biggest stage of them all why he would be a worthwhile signing and if Arsenal want to improve their domestic chances next season, the Italian should be a serious transfer contender.
