Llorente signs for Juventus

The conversation here at the Football Transfer Tavern has moved from one forward to another with Sky Sports claiming that Fernando Llorente to Juventus is a done deal.

The publication claim that the Athletic Bilbao striker has agreed a deal to join the Italian giants in the summer after making it clear to his current club that he wanted out. Llorente has been at loggerheads with the Basque club for most of the season over his desire to leave and now finally has his wish. The player will remain at the Spanish side until the end of the season when he will make his long anticipated move.

The Juventus official website stated: “The Spain international, who will soon be out of contract at Athletic Bilbao has signed an agreement that will bind him to Juventus from 1 July 2013. The contract, for a period of four years, will expire 30 June 2017. Until the end of this season the striker will continue to play for Athletic Bilbao.”

The news will of course come as a blow to several English sides who felt there was still a chance Llorente could be lured to the Premier League with Arsenal identified in The Independent as one of the teams who were in the chase for the striker.
