Losing Seri to Fulham of all places cannot be good for Arsenal in the early stages of Emery era

Arsenal have had a great summer so far in the Transfer Tavern.

The Gunners have added some brilliant recruits so far this summer. With Unai Emery at the helm, the Gunners seem to have taken a more proactive and prudent approach to their transfer business.

The Gunners still need to strengthen their midfield and look set to add Lucas Torreira to their ranks. Although Torreira is a great signing, Arsenal still need to add some quality depth to their midfield. Heavily linked with the Gunners last summer, Jean-Michel Seri has been one of the better midfielders in Europe over the last two years but is apparently on his way to Fulham according to Sky Sports Italia (h/t SportsMole).

The Breakdown

An all-action midfielder, Seri can do a bit of everything in midfield. A deep-lying playmaker who is capable of picking the ball up from the defence while under pressure from the opposition, Seri can also do a defensive role. While at Nice, Seri was the one player that set the rhythm and dictated the play going forward. The Ivory Coast can also play further forward and has got the feet to be able to weave through defences and play the final pass.

While Arsenal have been linked with a move for N’Zonzi – due to his physicality – Seri may have been the ideal man to fill Arsenal’s midfield.

If he might have been slightly taller and probably slightly more defensively astute, he probably would’ve been Arsenal’s man instead of N’Zonzi. Fulham have made a shrewd signing here.
