Arsenal are set to begin a Premier League campaign for the first time in 22 years without Arsene Wenger as manager.
Unai Emery is the man tasked with bringing the glory days back to the Emirates but that will take time, as fans have learnt to accept.
The former PSG boss has brought in a host of new players and ones that could be influential in their hopes for the new campaign. However, like all clubs, there are outgoings that could be regretful for Emery, someone in the form of Lucas Perez.
The Spaniard rarely played during his first season with the club but still scored 8 goals and provided 6 assists in 22 appearances. That wasn’t enough to keep him at the club though, last season he went out on loan to La Liga side Deportivo and continued to bang in the goals, 10 in total.
The form of Perez could have been good to keep at Arsenal but instead they sold him for just £4 million to fellow London club West Ham. The Hammers have 100% got the best deal out of that as not only is Perez a goalscorer but last season in La Liga, he created the second highest amount of chances, behind only Lionel Messi. As a backup striker, there is no doubt Perez will continue his good goalscoring form when given the chance by Manuel Pellegrini.
Lucas Perez is nearing 30-years-old but the Spaniard, given the chance, scores goals. If Lacazette or Aubameyang were to get injured, Arsenal surely can’t rely on Danny Welbeck to bag the team’s goals, with Perez clearly being a better option.
