Arsenal desperately need to improve if they are to stand any chance of securing a top-four spot in the current campaign, having struggled to ensure consistency.
The Gunners weren’t afraid to bring in a number of fresh faces back in the summer transfer window, but it remains to be seen as to whether they’ll take the same approach this month.
However, it’s obvious that Unai Emery is relying on Sven Mislintat to bring in at least a couple of quality signings, with a Champions League spot slowly slipping away. And, with attacking reinforcements required and defensive solidity being an issue recently, there could be plenty of movement.
Nevertheless, Emery can fire Arsenal into the Champions League if Mislintat pulls off these TWO transfers…
Yannick Carrasco was arguably one of the most dangerous wingers in world football during his time at Atletico Madrid, but he opted to move to China last year.
However, it has been reported that he is now keen (according to Kristof Terreur via the Daily Mail) on securing a move away at some point this month, with Arsenal being offered the opportunity to sign the Belgium international.
Aaron Ramsey looks set to depart at the end of the season and Mesut Ozil’s future continues to be surrounded with doubt, which leaves them with limited options in attacking areas. So, securing the services of Carrasco would provide them with much-needed cover and easily boost their top-four chances, as he is an experienced customer who has proved that he can ensure a consistent flow of goals, as well as providing regularly for teammates.
Arsenal have been woeful in defensive areas in the current campaign as they’ve leaked goals at times in the Premier League. It’s safe to say that the Gunners won’t be able to secure a top-four spot if they fail to strengthen this month, as their defensive display was embarrassing against Liverpool.
Medhi Benatia can provide a wealth of European and domestic experience, and he has established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe over the past couple of seasons. He is great in the air, has a strong tackling ability and positions himself appropriately, so he could definitely iron over the Gunners’ current defensive issues.
