Ever since their dismal loss to growing ever bitter rivals Chelsea on the weekend, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been drowning their sorrows while miserably propping our bar.
With another title tilt in tatters, the Gunners in the Tavern desperately need some cheering up right now as debate rages on about Arsene Wenger’s position in north London. So, reports from the Sun have at least taken their minds off the Le Prof chatter.
They claim the Emirates giants are leading the race to land Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick this summer, as his contract at the Theatre of Dreams winds down. A wonderfully gifted passer of the ball, the former England international seems a natural fit at Arsenal and supporters in the bar can really picture him pulling the strings for their club.
Despite his Tottenham past, the 35-year-old is understood to have admirers in north London, though Jose Mourinho will reportedly make a decision in regards to offering him a new deal towards the end of this current campaign. For their part, our United fans are prayng he’s given another year at Old Trafford.
Would Carrick improve Arsenal? Let us know below…
