‘My captain’ – Arsenal fans on Twitter urge club to reward popular star after last night

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are still buzzing with their side’s 4-1 home win over CSKA Moscow last night in the Europa League quarter-finals. The huge win for Arsene Wenger’s side was confirmed with two goals each from Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey, and the Arsenal fans have been calling for the latter to be offered a new deal at The Emirates.

Aaron Ramsey opened the scoring for the Gunners after just nine minutes and the Welshman went on to double his tally just before the half an hour mark. His impressive goalscoring exploits have been key for Arsenal this season and the fans have been getting frustrated that a contract hasn’t been tabled for the 27-year-old yet. Ramsey’s runs in from deep and ability to turn a game with his goals and assists make him a valuable asset for Arsenal and if Wenger isn’t careful he could be left helpless watching the influential midfielder walk away from North London for a cut price in the summer.

The Arsenal fans propping our bar up will be keen on Ramsey maintaining his form as they face CSKA Moscow again next Thursday and need to avoid losing by a four-goal margin to take up a place in the last four of Europe’s second-tier competition. The competition in this year’s Europa League has been fierce with Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Lazio and RB Leipzig all still going strong and looking like ensuring themselves as the competition’s semi-finalists. Whilst winning the competition won’t be easy, with the form and goals of Aaron Ramsey, the fans will remain confident of a return to Europe’s elite next year.
