Arsenal’s injury list has slowly but surely gotten longer in the last week following crucial blows to the likes of Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi.
While the returns of club-captain Laurent Koscielny and left-back Nacho Monreal are certainly a welcoming sight for manager Unai Emery, should the club’s head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, be plotting major plans together to lure some reinforcements to the Emirates in January.
And since it is defensively where the Gunners have looked thin this season, two specific Bundesliga stars would give Emery much needed depth for the latter part of the season.
Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back, Nico Elvedi, would be just the sort of addition that would represent the new exciting recruitment system Mislintat has implemented at Arsenal.
The defender will, more importantly, be of high value to the team if Arsenal were to continue their great form under the new manager.
Elvedi, 22, has more than a 100 appearances for Monchengladbach already and forms the core of the club’s back-four defence, so certainly would slot nicely alongisde Sokratis.
One more injury to a centre-back and Arsenal are forced to make use of Carl Jenkinson, whose fitness has also been an issue lately.
It is therefore of high importance that Emery has the necessary players available to push on with his great start at the helm of the club and has he showed his capabilities of getting the best out of his players.
With the knockout stages of the Europa League looming at the start of the new year and the FA Cup on the horizon, Arsenal could thrive even more with players like Elvedi in their armour and he’d benefit the club in the long run.
