With Alexandre Lacazette now on board, much of the talk amongst the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern has centred around the future of Alexis Sanchez.
Their superstar Chilean has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League rivals Manchester City, much to the annoyance of the Gooners propping up our bar. With that in mind, reports emanating out of Spain have at least taken their collective minds off of Sanchez.
According to AS, another forward could be on his way out of the Emirates this summer. They claim Lucas Perez’s agent has travelled to London in order to seal an exit, with Deportiva La Coruna said to be keen to bring him back to A Coruña.
The 28-year-old only left Branquiazuis last summer, though was only able to muster 2 league starts in north London and a €10m offer, roughly £8.9m, is understood to have been made by the Spanish side.
While many of our north London locals do believe Perez – who recently complained about his No.9 shirt at the club taken off him – deserved more of a chance last season, the arrival of the aforementioned Lacazette means he’s unlikely to feature.
That being said, they hope they can get a better deal out of Deportivo.
Perez has been unlucky. Probably a much better player than he’s been able to show during his fleeting appearances within the Gunners’ first-team, the Gunners’ struggles meant Wenger had to stick with his bigger names.
Even now they moved into a new system, Perez faces competition with their record signing, (potentially) Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in attacking berths, so raising funds by moving him on could be smart.
