Arsenal are set for a quiet end to the summer transfer window.

Unai Emery has strengthened significantly after replacing Arsene Wenger in the dugout at the Emirates. The Spaniard has added five new players to his squad as he looks to put the Gunners back into title contention. They kick off the new Premier League campaign with a visit from reigning champions Manchester City.

With transfer deadline day just three days away, Emery hinted there would be no further signings before business concludes. However, the Gunners should consider a sensational move to re-sign Chelsea forward – Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman left the Emirates for Stamford Bridge back in January but could be set to depart following Maurizio Sarri’s arrival. Valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, bringing Giroud back to North London could be a smart move.

The 31-year-old made over 250 appearances for the Gunners and netted 105 goals during his time at the club. The World Cup winner is an impact player who is capable of coming off the bench and scoring an important goal. If Arsenal are to compete for the title, they need options on the sideline that can change a game.

With Lucas Perez set to depart, Giroud would provide excellent cover for Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the Arsenal attack. The World Cup winner would jump at the chance to reunite with his former employers and rekindle his relationship with the Arsenal fans.
