Philipp Max: The defender to keep Arsenal scoring

Arsenal managed to record their third consecutive Premier League win under Unai Emery against Newcastle.

The Gunners endured a difficult start to the campaign following defeats against Manchester City and Chelsea. Despite their losses, Emery received praise for quickly implementing his methods on the Arsenal squad. The Spaniard was rewarded with wins against West Ham and Cardiff City to boot.

To continue their impressive form, Arsenal should be monitoring Augsburg defender, Philipp Max, ahead of a January move. Valued at £15.3m by Transfermarkt, the German remains an unknown quantity despite being one of the most impressive players in the Bundesliga last season. The left-back broke the assist record for defenders after creating 13 goals for his team-mates last season.

Despite his incredible season, Max wasn’t picked up by one of Europe’s elite. His arrival at Arsenal could greatly improve the fortunes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in the attack. Max created 75 chances last season which could mean even more goals for Emery’s forwards.

While Nacho Monreal has performed admirably, it’s time the Gunners replace him with one of the most promising defenders in Europe.
