In many ways, this feels like the last summer for Arsene Wenger in charge of Arsenal. Perhaps it will. Perhaps it won’t.
Still, the divisive Frenchman continues to split opinion in the Transfer Tavern and the coming weeks could ultimately define how his tenure with the Gunners is looked back upon.
Spend big and win the league and the 66-year old will be truly revered once more.
Fail to do so again and things could get pretty ugly indeed.
Well, according to the Daily Telegraph, Le Prof is planning on doing the former, as he bids to put together what could be his last title winning squad at the Emirates Stadium.
In doing so, he is thought to be targeting a central striker AND a central defender, having already landed Granit Xhaka in a mega money deal.
The club were snubbed by Jamie Vardy of Leicester City and have to deal with a long-term injury to Danny Welbeck, leaving only Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott in that berth.
Will this be Wenger’s last season?
