Player expects to be with Arsenal after transfer deadline – Report

Over the last few weeks and months, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have had to deal with oh so many rumours and reports touting their big players with exits.

Indeed, the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have seen their futures called into question of late, much to the frustration of the Gooners propping up the bar.

So, reports from the Guardian suggesting one player expects to STAY at the Emirates this summer have broken the trend and gone down well.

They’ve revealed that Calum Chambers reportedly expects to remain an Arsenal player this summer, despite being close to a move to Crystal Palace earlier in the summer.

With Gabriel having recently been sold to Valencia, the former Southampton youngster could provide cover in central defence, especially if Kieran Gibbs leaves the club.

Per Mertesacker is set to retire at the end of this campaign too, so the 22-year-old may act as cover for Arsenal both as a central defender or a right-back.

Right now, Chambers is recovering from a groin injury but could be back after the international break and our local Gunners are reasonably happy about the notion of him staying.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Definitely a huge talent, Chambers sticking around in north London can only be a good thing for Arsenal. Having struck up a good bond with Rob Holding, he’s a good option to use in cup/Europa League games and could have a big future ahead of him.
