The Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern aren’t quite convinced about the new era their club is about to embark on just yet. Indeed, with Unai Emery at the helm and Stephan Lichtsteiner signed, the punters propping up our bar aren’t getting too excited just yet.
With that in mind, it’s time to look at players the new Gunners chief can get on board to excite fans once again. Well, with a little known international tournament called the World Cup coming up, the punters propping up our bar are eager to point out potential targets.
While Chile – whose best player Arsenal fans have some history with – didn’t make it to Russia, they will be playing Poland in a pre-tournament friendly on Friday night and they can certainly scout a decent player there in a game in which the Poland vs Chile betting odds have the Europeans as favourites. Clearly, Robert Lewandowski is the main man for Poland, though Arsenal could do a lot worse than to move for midfielder, Pitor Zieliński.
The Napoli man is ideal for the Gunners. A talented technician, he’s tailor-made for life in north London, helping Arsenal go some way into replacing Santi Cazorla. The former Udinese man might not yet be as good as the aforementioned Spaniard, though his ability to dictate the ball from deep could allow Arsenal that kind of deep-lying playmaker they’ve missed since his injury and then departure.
Valued at £22.50m by Transfermarkt, he’d be a wonderful addition at the Emirates Stadium.
