The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been in pretty good spirits of late, following their recent win over Chelsea in the Community Shield.
While Arsene Wenger’s side have some way to go in order to prove they’re going make a much better go of things next term, it’s certainly proven rather promising for our resident Gooners.
Indeed, reports from the Daily Telegraph have only added to the good feeling amongst our north London locals here in the Tavern. They claim Paris Saint-Germain are ready to drop their interest in Emirates star Alexis Sanchez following the signing of Neymar.
The French giants broke a world record to land the Brazilian and have also been touted with a move for his former Barcelona teammate, Sanchez. However, Les Parisians surely have to sell now they’ve landed Neymar and are said to have dropped interest in the Chile star.
There’s reportedly a growing sense that the 28-year-old will see out the final year of his contract in north London, with the player and his representatives thought to be aware of cooled interest over in France.
As you can imagine, it’s fairly bittersweet news for our local Arsenal fans. They’re delighted about the fact he looks like staying, though the idea of losing him for free next year is a gutting one.
It’s a huge boost for Arsenal, as well as Arsene Wenger, in terms of credibility. Taking a hard-line approach to the situation could help change the mentality at the Emirates as Le Prof looks to restore former glories to the club.
Good on Arsenal.
