Arsenal will be delighted with how well they have been playing this season yet improvements are still possible in their squad.
Especially now that the Gunners have been dealt a huge blow in Rob Holding, with the defender rumoured to be out for the entire season.
Just as their defence was beginning to look a bit more solid with the Englishman in it, he goes and get injured.
Arsenal’s luck with injuries has been a curse for years but they can’t afford to feel sorry for themselves, they must recruit a solution instead.
Cadena Ser have since reported that Arsenal are very interested in a deal to sign Real Valladolid star Fernando Calero.
Calero has impressed massively seeing as his defence has conceded just 15 goals in as many games. The 23-year-old is destined for a move to the next level, which he could get with a switch to Arsenal.
What could this deal mean for the Gunners…
The end for long servant Koscielny
Another name on the injury list at Arsenal is Laurent Koscielny and the 33-year-old could be on his way out if Fernando Calero moves to the Emirates.
His time at Arsenal will live long in the memory but with the club moving forward, they can’t rely on an injury-prone defender anymore.
Great back-up for Arsenal
The 23-year-old is in great form this season and would surely make great back-up at least.
Although he may not instantly get a place in the starting line-up, Calero could well be a reliable player Arsenal turn to in the future to help consolidate their Champions League hopes.
