There were some seriously impressive showings for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern as their club managed to beat bitter rivals Chelsea in the Community Shield over the weekend.
Indeed, as the Gooners propping up our bar get ready for the first Premier League game of the campaign this Friday, new signings Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac looked really rather good at Wembley.
With both looking like adding a new dimension to Arsene Wenger’s side, it’s not all good news for our north London locals today.
According to the Sun, Le Prof could miss out on Monaco forward Thomas Lemar as they club weigh up selling Kylian Mbappe. The former has been touted as a potential target at the Emirates and bids are understood to have been rejected for the 21-year-old by the Ligue 1 champions.
Mbappe, meanwhile, has been linked with a huge move to Real Madrid and Les Rogues et Blancs are understood to want to prevent any more player sales this summer. The likes of Benjamin Mendy and Bernando Silva have already left for Manchester City and Chelsea nabbed dynamic midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, ripping apart the impressive side who won the league last term.
So, Arsenal could be frustrated in their attempts to land Lemar, who is thought to be keen on a move to the club, much to the chagrin of our resident Gooners.
Missing out on Lemar would be a blow, though the fact Alexis Sanchez has reportedly decided to stay at Arsenal could soften it somewhat.
Still, as the club look to get back into the Champions League, the Frenchman’s arrival could increase their options in attack, as well as provide a long-term heir to Sanchez if he departs next summer.
