Potential transfer boost for Arsenal with player reportedly keen to work for Arsene Wenger

With Alexandre Lacazette finally on board, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are once again optimistic about their chances of a genuine title challenge.

Indeed, while Alexis Sanchez could still leave the club this summer, the fact the Gooners propping up our bar are finally able to celebrate a marquee marksman has excited them ahead of the upcoming campaign.

As if that wasn’t good enough news, reports from the Sun have gone down a storm. They claim Premier League rivals Manchester City fear youngster Jordan Sancho will move to the Emirates Stadium.

The talented 17-year-old attacker is thought to have stalled on a £30k-p/w offer from the Sky Blues, with Arsenal thought to be interested. Sancho himself is understood to see Arsene Wenger as a perfect mentor and is reportedly keen to join the north London giants.

City have left him out of their American tour and the player is expected to walk away from the club in 12 months on a free.

Tottenham and RB Leipzig are two other parties said to be keen on the England U17 international, though he’s believed to be keen on moving to Arsenal.

Landlord’s Verdict

Commanding a regular starting berth at either City or Arsenal will be difficult for a 17-year-old, though perhaps Sancho could prove to be a replacement for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, should he depart.

Having lost so many players to the Etihad giants in recent years, prizing Sancho away from Manchester would be a much-needed win for the Gunners. While he may not be Sanchez, perhaps developing him into a first-team star could be a transfer masterstroke in north London.
