Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have mixed reactions about the future of their club at the moment – however, they could see one of their more influential stars commit his to the team.
The locals will still be coming to terms with the idea that manager Arsene Wenger will not be with the club at the end of the season, although a number of the punters will be excited about what the change will bring to the Gunners.
However, one man is set to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium, with The Daily Mirror reporting that Jack Wilshere is set to sign a new deal to remain in North London.
The 26-year-old’s current contract is set to expire in the summer and Everton were believed to be interested, but it appears that there has been a breakthrough in talks.
It is believed that he will be on £90,000-a-week with the addition of complex add-ons and incentives, which could make his new deal a bigger earner than before.
And reports of Wilshere’s seemingly likely stay is sure to come as good news to our resident Gunners fans, who have seen the England international perform reasonably well for their side this season, and thus it would have been a big loss were they to lose him over the summer.
Landlord’s Verdict: Arsenal fans will be delighted that Wilshere has committed his future to the club on paper, having told of his desire to remain at the club and his hopes of completing a deal.
When the England international has been available, having struggled with a number of injuries, he has proven to be a key member of the Gunners side, and the locals in the bar will be hoping he can continue to reach his peak in the coming years.
