Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have enjoyed a successful weekend, following their club’s victory over Manchester City, but they’ve started the week with a transfer blow.
Telefoot quote Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas as stating the French side will ‘go a bit mad’ to keep star-striker Alexandre Lacazette at the club this summer, amidst interest from the likes of Arsenal on the transfer market.
ESPN state both Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on the French striker’s services, as he’s scored an impressive 24 goals in 27 Ligue 1 starts this season, but it appears either Premier League side will have to launch a stunning offer to capture the 25-year-old.
“We’re ready to go a bit mad and do things we’ve never done to keep Alexandre Lacazette. The club is good, the club has invested in all the structures that will allow it to get back among Europe’s top 10 clubs.”
“Of course we’ll have to listen to Alexandre, because he’s a man and a great player.”
Champions League football could be decisive in the quest to land Lacazette’s services though, as Lyon are set to miss-out this season unless they can win the Europa League – where they face Ajax in the semi-finals.
Our landlord believes Lacazette’s services this summer could still be secured for the right price though, as he feels the striker needs to leave if he’s to push his way into France’s World Cup squad next summer.
