Mauro Icardi is one of many names to be linked with taking over the mantle as Arsenal’s main striker, with the Transfer Tavern having played host to many a raucous debate over the Argentine.
Across the duration of silly season so far, the 23-year old has been touted as a potential £43m target for both the Gunners and North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
A controversial figure, the San Siro skipper is undoubtedly one of the most promising striking talents in the European game and would represent quite the coup for those in North London.
Now, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport (via the Daily Express), the former Sampdoria ace could travel to London for talks.
He was reportedly promised a new deal by the Nerazzurri, though that has not yet come to fruition, much to his chagrin.
“Mauro was assured of a contract extension as soon as the club’s financial troubles had been resolved”, she said.
“If Inter do not want to appreciate Icardi and then sharply change his value according to their own point of view, they know they run the risk of losing him.”
