Proof that Arsenal really didn’t need another striker at all

Though Arsene Wenger finally splashed the cash in the market rather late on in the window, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were left somewhat disappointed.

Granted, things are working out right now as the Gunners keep up the pace with the early Premier League table-toppers.

However, those in north London never got the top class striker they so craved to spearhead their attack at long last.

Olivier Giroud has constantly divided opinion in Arsenal colours, while summer signing Lucas Perez remains a relative unknown.

Still, a stat from Opta has emerged that seems to shock the fans propping up the bar somewhat.

They’ve revealed the club have the BEST conversion rate in the Premier League this season, scoring with 23% of their shots.

The likes of Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Iwobi form a thoroughly fluid frontline for Le Prof, one that has seen them trail only Manchester City and Spurs in the table.

So, even though the club missed out on Jamie Vardy and once again failed to sign Gonzalo Higuain, does it really matter?

Perhaps we shouldn’t all be so quick to lament Wenger…
