Real Madrid target audacious move for Arsenal stalwart, deal could depend on Man United

Rumours from the continent have made their way into the Football Transfer Tavern today, one punter who has just come back from the Euros told the bar staff that they had read some worrying news for Arsenal fans whilst in France.

According to French website, Foot Mercato, Real Madrid are considering a move for the Gunners’ key defender, Laurent Koscielny, as a replacement for fellow Frenchman, Raphael Varane who looks destined to leave the Galacticos.

The former has been a mainstay in a turbulent defence over the last few seasons and it would be a big blow to Arsene Wenger should he decide to up and leave North London.

The 30-year-old has been the most comfortable in what has looked a shaky Les Blues defence so far at the European Championships and is now looking forward to a tie with all-conquering Iceland in the quarter-final.

However, he has only won the FA Cup and Community Shield in his time at the Emirates and may see a late move to the Spanish capital as a big chance to challenge for silverware before retirement.

Varane, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to Manchester United to link up with former Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho.

Arsenal fans, how big of a loss would the Frenchman be to your side? Let us know what you think in the comments below?
