Report sheds light on Arsenal’s transfer problems this summer

The early signings of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac had the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern seriously excited about a raft of changes to reshape the squad at the Emirates Stadium.

Still, the transfer window hasn’t panned out like that just yet and it’s fair to say proceedings have stalled since. Indeed, reports from the Daily Mail have shed some light on that particular matter.

They claim that, while the Gunners are keen on offloading a number of players, interested parties are reportedly put off paying the wages of such individuals. The likes of Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs, Lucas Perez and David Ospina are all understood to be up for sale, though their pay packets may cause a problem.

Arsenal are believed to be desperate to start the clear-out and raise as much as £19m for player sales, in order to put that towards another bid for Monaco and France forward Thomas Lemar.

The club may have to lower their asking prices for fringe players and a clear-out is still said to be a priority, with our north London locals hoping they can shift some of the deadwood instantly.

Landlord’s Verdict

It is imperative Arsenal are able to sell some of their flops as soon as possible. Not only to free up space in the squad and on the wage bill, but to help begin to change the losing culture of the club of late.

A complete overhaul will seriously help rid Arsene Wenger’s squad of that mentality.
