Though the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are clinging onto the hope their side will still finish in the top four and perhaps win the FA Cup, it’s barely been a vintage year at the Emirates.
Indeed, the Gunners and their fanbase at have been at odds for much of the campaign over the future of Arsene Wenger, as well as many of their star players.
One of which – Olivier Giroud – has seemingly always cast a divisive figure in north London. So, reports from the Daily Mirror suggesting the forward could look to leave the club this summer have only sparked more debate within our four walls.
They claim Marseillie are keen on the idea of bringing the 30-year-old back to France this summer and are reportedly ready to pay around £20m to do so. Giroud is understood to want to ensure he’s playing first-team football in order to make Les Bleus’ World Cup squad in 2018 and has taken somewhat of a backseat to Alexis Sanchez in the central striking role.
There’s no doubt Giroud is an effective option coming off the bench, though many of our resident Arsenal fans will be dancing on the pool tables should he depart.
