After pipping their arch rivals to second place in the Premier League, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have had rather smug looks on their faces, much to the chagrin of the Spurs supporters propping up the bar.
Now, according to a report in the Sun, the red half of North London could be about to celebrate further, right in their faces of their not-so-friendly neighbours.
That’s because Arsenal reportedly remain in control of a potential deal that would see Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding join the club.
That’s despite an apparent late move from the White Hart Lane outfit, who have had success in scouting players from the lower league in the past.
The 20-year old has emerged as one of the most formidable defenders playing outside of the top tier despite proving powerless to prevent the Trotters’ relegation into League One.
Both the Gunners and Everton have been linked with moves for the central defender following their drop.
Still, Spurs are believed to have made an 11th hour attempt to prize him to White Hart Lane, where the club have enjoyed great success with fellow talented young Englishmen Dele Alli and Eric Dier.
However, despite their last ditch efforts to muscle in on the deal, they were reportedly told that the defender would only sign for the Emirates outfit.
It is also understood that the club could then loan Holding out once they have completed a deal for him initially.
Can Holding make the step up? Will he just be farmed out on loan straight away?
