Scott Dann has impressed for Carling Cup winners Birmingham City since signing for the Blues in 2009; he helped the club finish in a very creditable 9th place in 2009-10 and was a key player in their League Cup run this term, before his injury in January put him out for the rest of the season.
The imposing centre-back started his career with Walsall, before moving to Coventry City and then on to Birmingham for £4million. Now, Steve Kean is making a deadline day move for him as purported moves to big guns like Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool have failed to materialise so far.
At one stage he looked set for a £6m deal to join Arsene Wenger’s backline at The Emirates Stadium but now he is undergoing a medical ahead of a potential move to Blackburn Rovers.
So far this summer, Blackburn have been disappointing, both in terms of results and transfers, but this will brighten up even the gloomiest of people as this is surely one of the best deadline day deals ever recorded if it comes to fruition.
Paired alongside Christopher Samba, Dann & co. could make the Lancashire based club a formidable defensive force again and clubs will no longer relish playing against the Rovers.
What is your opinion of Scott Dann? Is he a good signing for Blackburn or an expensive mistake?
