Arsenal fans have been gathering in the Transfer Tavern waiting to see who the club sign this summer.
The club is going through a massive rebuild as Emery reshapes the side. The former Sevilla boss has limited funds to deal with this summer but it seems like Arsenal are still eager to do plenty of business.
According to Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness) arsenal centreback, Shkodran Mustafi has emerged as a transfer target for Juventus. The arrival of Sokratis Papastathopoulos has added more competition at the centreback position and Arsenal also linked with a move for Caglar Söyüncü.
If Juventus do want to sign Mustafi, Arsenal should be enquiring as to the availability of young defender, Daniele Rugani.
What better experience can you have than learning from a defence that at one time consisted of Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci. Rugani is regarded as one of the top young players in Italy and is seen as a future successor to Chiellini at Juve.
A mobile and technical defender, Rugani reads the game incredibly well. Unlike Mustafi who barrels into challenges eager to nick the ball, Rugani prefers to win the ball via his positioning rather than by gambling at the last minute.
It might be tough to lure Rugani to Arsenal, especially amidst interest from Chelsea but if the Gunners offered Mustafi in return, Juve may just take the offer.
Mustafi has had an up and down Arsenal since he made the move from Valencia and was especially poor last season. A swap deal for Arsenal deal for Rugani would be an absolute steal.
Arsenal fans, should Arsenal trade Mustafi for Rugani?
