21 year old German International Marko Marin may be a hot target come January with United, Spurs and Arsenal leading the chase.
The former Borussia Mönchengladbach winger has caught the eye so far this season with 4 goals and 5 assists in 17 games for Werder Bremen. He is described as “The German Lionel Messi”, though at the World Cup in South Africa despite two substitute appearances, he failed to make a real impact on the biggest stage of all.
The lad is half decent though, he’s a flair player, unafraid of taking on an opponent. He creates goals by opening up space and isn’t a bad finisher either. Some Bremen fans have even gone as far to say that he is better than former player and World Cup star Mesut Özil. Given time he could mature and become a real threat; but he hasn’t quite burst onto the world stage in the manner that Messi did.
I’m personally not convinced it would be a sensible buy for any of the aforementioned clubs. Werden Bremen will be asking for roughly £15million and I can’t really see where he would fit. Spurs have over 9000 midfielders these days and United seem settled with Nani, Giggs, Valencia et al. It’s only really the Arsenal link I see as viable; but I’m not convinced Wenger would spend such a vast amount of money on a single player, let alone Marin.
Time will tell, he is only young and he definitely has ability. Though, his international experience will boost his pricetag and he is certainly a key member of Bremen’s starting eleven; especially since Mesut Özil left for the Bernabéu.
Enjoy some of his best moments below accompanied by some pretty awful music.
