Arsenal patrons in the Transfer Tavern are painfully aware they may have to say goodbye to the club’s leading talent this summer.
Alexis Sanchez is the talisman of the Gunners’ starting Xi, leading the way for both goals and assists in the Premier League this season with 18 and nine respectively, but is yet to renew his contract beyond the end of next season.
Likewise, the Chilean’s body language has concerned the Tavern’s Arsenal punters recently; casting a frustrated figure in recent weeks and even finding himself benched for the Gunners’ 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at the start of March.
And to make matters worse, reports from Spanish publication Sport claim the 28-year-old is now in the thoughts of one of Europe’s biggest clubs in the form of Bayern Munich – who are well on course to claim yet another Bundesliga title this season despite a slow start to the campaign.
Indeed, Sport suggest Bayern are looking to strengthen in the summer and two players are regularly being discussed around the Allianz Arena – Arsenal’s Sanchez and Real Madrid’s attacking midfielder James Rodriguez.
That has lead to even more concern amongst Arsenal supporters in the Tavern, who have taken to drinking away their woes with a few rounds of fine ale. The club’s current league standing doesn’t help either – they’re sixth and need at least six points to get back into the top four.
