Following their 5-0 thrashing of Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday – with a starting XI that contained a number of changes – the Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern will be happy that their squad is in good shape at the end of the January window.
Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott both showed how they can support the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud with a brace and a hat-trick respectively at St Mary’s at the weekend, but some of the fans standing at the bar may be concerned that they lack that quality in depth at the back.
Though, they were brought down to earth when they were downed 2-1 by Watford at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening.
While they will still harbour hopes of competing for the Premier League title, as well as in the FA Cup and Champions League, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may regret not strengthening certain areas in his side if any injuries are picked up in the upcoming weeks and months – and the landlord knows that’s a distinct possibility with their luck in recent years!
