These 2 remaining games will define Arsenal’s season

Same story, different manager. Arsenal have once again found themselves faltering when it really matters, sinking to 6th place after their defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

Unpredictable is probably the best way the describe the Gunners under Unai Emery, who has admittedly added a new dimension to their attacking play, by combining Lacazette and Aubameyang, but has somewhat disregarded the need for a solid defence.

They now have less than half a season to find some form and rescue their campaign or find themselves loitering around the very same spots they did under an ageing Arsene Wenger.

That said, here are two games that will define Arsenal’s season.

Tottenham Hotspur 02/03/2019

As the north London derby, this game is significant for a whole host of reasons.

However, looking at it from the perspective of the Premier League standings, Arsenal have really got to stamp their authority if they want to finish to finish in a respectable position this year.

The trip over the road marks the beginning of an incredibly difficult run of fixtures including a visit to Old Trafford, to play Manchester United, and hosting in form side Wolverhampton Wanderers. Should they drop points in any one of these games, we feel it will take quite a lot to knock any one of the top four off their perch.

Leicester City 27/04/2019

In what will be one of the final games of the season Arsenal face up against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

By this point, numerous events shaping the Premier League table will have unfolded and it’s entirely possible that Arsenal will have either secured their spot, squandered it, or be relying on their final games to buy themselves a place in Europe.

Leicester have shown often enough now that they’re a team to be reckoned with when facing the “bigger” sides. They’ve taken points from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City already this season and Arsenal could well be next when it matters most, even if they have nothing to play for.

We’ve just got a hunch that this could be the make or break of Arsenal’s season.
