Arsenal have been busy in the transfer window as Unai Emery looks to challenge for the title next season.

After replacing Arsene Wenger in the dugout, Emery got straight to work, revamping the Arsenal squad. Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere both left the club following years of service. More departures are expected as Emery looks to instil a winning mentality into his players.

The Spaniard has made five signings already this summer at a transfer outlay of around £70m. With the transfer window closing on August 9, time is running out to bolster their ranks. Signing a new playmaker could put Arsenal back into title contention.

A great signing could be Bayern Munich maestro – Thiago Alcantara. Valued at £54m by Transfermarkt, the Spaniard remains of the best midfielders in the world but is not a guaranteed starter at the Allianz Arena. The offer of first-team football could be vital in luring him from Germany.

The La Masia graduate is an excellent passer of the ball, completing 91% of his passes in the Bundesliga last season (WhoScored). Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be licking his lips if Thiago arrived as the 27-year-old averaged 1.5 key passes per game last year. Long passing is arguably his biggest strength and no one in the Arsenal squad played more than the former Barcelona man (5.8).

With new signing Lucas Torreira behind Thiago, the Gunners have a midfield that could lead them to the title.
