Things could change at Arsenal as Wenger weighs up launching big offer for clinical forward

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been sat quietly by the pool table as they don’t expect their side to complete much business this month, though the latest reports have sparked them into life.

Spanish outlet Ok Diario state that the Gunners are set to move on their long-term interest for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, with Arsene Wenger reportedly believing the 24-year-old Spaniard can form a great partnership with Olivier Giroud.

The suggestions indicate that Wenger may be prepared to shift from the 4-2-3-1 formation he has utilised in recent seasons to make room for the two strikers, although that would make it difficult to fit in the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka.

Those at the Emirates are thought to be long-term admirers of the forward and are said to be considering an ‘irresistible offer‘ for the Los Blancos star, which includes regular first-team football.

However, our landlord isn’t too convinced by the stories as he feels Arsenal will be content with the options they currently have, with Olivier Giroud returning to form in the last month and Alexis Sanchez excelling in a forward role this season.
