The Arsenal fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are bitterly disappointed to have lost out on midfield target Fabinho to rivals Liverpool. This means, now, Emery will have to search more extensively for his top first signing as Gunners boss.
It was revealed that Arsenal missed out with a late bid to sign Fabinho, who joined Liverpool ahead of the new campaign. This was disappointing for the fans to find out about but a transfer they cannot dwell upon. Instead, Arsenal must eye Marseille’s Andre Zambo Anguissa, who is valued at £10.8 million on Transfermarkt, so fans can quickly divert their attention back to their own club.
The tough-tackling midfielder has been in tremendous form for the French side this season, featuring in 56 appearances, including the Europa League final. Arsenal would be massively improved with the addition of a defensive-midfielder, a position and a player of his calibre they have needed for many years now.
At 22-years-old, Zambo Anguissa’s rise to stardom in the French side has been quick but yet spectacular. Although he isn’t necessarily a goal-threat going forward, his defensive contributions make him a standout performer who breaks up play and then has the ability to set his team away on the counter-attack.
Arsenal have previously enjoyed success with Cameroon internationals, with the last success story being Alex Song. If Andre Zambo Anguissa could have the great impact that Alex Song also did at the club, then the Gunners can be hopeful that brighter times are on the horizon.
