Unai Emery has got off to a great start at Arsenal and things are starting to look positive at the club ahead of the new season.
With five new faces joining the first-team squad, Arsenal seem to have learnt from past mistakes. The new boss has been keen to wrap up his summer business early as he crafts a squad that can take the Gunners back into the top four spots.
While Arsenal have been so active in bringing in players to the club, according to The Sun, the Gunners are also ready to cut ties with some squad players, namely David Ospina and Danny Welbeck.
Both players in the World Cup this summer but when they return to the club they might find that first-team opportunities will be hard to come by.
Due to the arrival of Bernd Leno, David Ospina’s chances of competing for Arsenal’s first-choice spot or even second-choice spot looks bleak. Petre Cech will likely keep the first-choice spot while Bernd Leno will be his backup.
As for Danny Welbeck, the former Manchester United man was a scarcely-used substitute for Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane. Moreover, even for Arsenal, Welbeck has struggled to break into the squad to gain a regular first-team spot.
In fairness, both players have never shown the consistency needed to be a hit at the club and with Emery now at the helm, it would seem good business to cut ties with both.
