Arsenal left Turf Moor with a point as they drew 0-0 against Burnley with one player going under the radar with his performance.
It was a game where both sides created and missed some good opportunities. Alexandre Lacazette had one of his side’s best chances as he headed wide from a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cross after being left unmarked in the penalty area (via BBC). His Gabon teammate also missed a brilliant chance when he shanked an effort horribly wide after being played through on goal.
However, it was Jay Rodriguez, who had the best chance overall as he hit the bar with an effort from inside the six-yard box with the goal seemingly at his mercy. The result means the Gunners have now notched up their 13th draw inside their opening 25 games, the most any top-flight team has managed since Manchester United during 1980/1981 campaign.
Shkodran Mustafi was the stand-out player for the north London outfit as he put in a monstrous performance at the heart of his team’s defence. The German made the joint-most interceptions (2) and the most clearances (7) in a brilliant display (via WhoScored). However, it was Hector Bellerin who proved to be the unsung hero for the Gooners. Indeed, the Spaniard made the second-most tackles (3) and the third-most clearances (3). He also used the ball well as he finished with the third-highest pass accuracy of among players who had started the game (84.9%)
Football.London agreed with this assessment of his performance as they gave him a six out of 10, commenting on his defensive game. They said: “Dealt with the Burnley pressure well in the first half but could have done a better job at preventing their crosses into the box. This was Burnley’s main method of attack but he did improve in the second half.”
“The Spaniard was often first to the ball and was calm when he won it. He became more a threat to Burnley in the late stages. When he did get into the final third, he curled a left-footed effort wide of the post before whipping a dangerous cross to the far post.” (Source: football.london)
