Arsenal enjoyed a huge win and a return to form as they thrashed Newcastle United 4-0 in the Premier League with one player going under the radar with his performance.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got the Gunners up and running as he headed home a floated cross from Nicolas Pepe (via BBC). The Ivorian then got a goal of his own as he slotted home a cut back from Bukayo Saka before Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil joined in on the action with strikes of their own.
Saka proved to be the man of the match for Mikel Arteta’s side as he bossed the left flank for the north London outfit. As well as assisting Pepe’s goal, the England youth international attempted a staggering six dribbles and had the joint-third most shots at goal (2) against Steve Bruce’s men (via WhoScored).
However, it was Dani Ceballos, who proved to be the unsung hero for his side with his performance alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield. The number eight played the second-most key passes (3) and was the joint-most fouled player (2) for his side. However, it was his use of the ball which proved to be his key strength against the Geordies as the Spain international attempted the second-most passes (91) and played the most accurate long balls (7).
Football.london agreed with this assessment as they gave him an eight of 10, commenting on his overall display. They said: “Started well but once targeted by Allan Saint-Maximin things became more difficult for Ceballos. Despite this, he responded well and came out swinging in the second half.” (Source: football.london)
