Wages no issue in surprise potential Arsenal deal this summer

Life being an Arsenal fan hasn’t always been a happy one this season, with the punters in the Transfer Tavern often found drowning their sorrows.

Still, they kept their Champions League hopes alive with a win over Southampton last night and could yet finish the campaign in the top four AND as FA Cup winners.

So, while it’s barely been a vintage season for the Gunners, it’s not all bad.

Still, nothing’s ever simple following Arsenal it seems. Reports from the Daily Mail today have sparked debate around the bar as the paper touts forward Danny Welbeck for a potential shock exit.

The England international – who scored in the recent win over Manchester United – is reportedly of interest to Turkish giants Galatasaray this summer. Blighted by injury over the past two seasons, the 26-year-old offers Arsene Wenger something different in central striking positions.

However, the Istanbul-based outfit are understood to be willing to pay the £16m fee Arsenal paid Man United back in 2014 and wages are reportedly no issue.

For his part, Welbeck is not believed to be overly keen on the idea of moving to Turkey, though a few of the Gunners in the bar who don’t rate him believe it could be a good deal.
