The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been responding to a tweet by Paul Gascoigne on Twitter. Gazza tweeted the video of his incredible free kick goal in the 1991 FA Cup semi-final between North London rivals, Tottenham and Arsenal. Tottenham beat Arsenal 3-1 that day and went on to lift the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
The Spurs fans propping our bar up absolutely love Gazza’s reminder of that day in 1991. Gascoigne scored the free kick from 35 yards inside five minutes as Spurs cruised into the final of the FA Cup. Now though, Spurs fans will be hoping someone in their current team can step with and produce a moment of magic like Gazza did as they face Manchester United in this season’s FA Cup semi-finals.
Tottenham haven’t won the FA Cup since Gazza’s 1991 heroics and will be looking at Harry Kane and co to deliver for them like the Spurs side of 27 years ago did. If Mauricio Pochettino’s men manage to win the FA Cup this season it will be their first piece major honour since 10 years ago when Juande Ramos guided Spurs to a League Cup victory over Chelsea back in 2008.
Here’s what our local Lilywhites’ made of Gazza’s tweet:

Possibly the Best ever FA cup goal scored at Wembley. Still prefer your goal against Scotland though !
